Christine Focken & Lenore Mardas Christine and Lenore have been selected to represent Greenville High School and the Greenville Rotary Club at this year’s annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award and conference. RYLA is a program that originated with Rotary International and has subsequently been adopted by our local Rotary. RYLA encourages servant leadership in youth by recognizing and rewarding deserving 11th grade students who are chosen to attend the RYLA conference as an “award” for their past and present leadership and service activities. Christine and Lenore are important members of our Interact Club which is why they were selected. They will attend an all-expense paid camp where they will be inspired by a diverse group of exceptional speakers, make life-long friends through fellowship activities and discuss ethical and social issues that affect our students and communities today. Aidan O’Connor & Claire Tolan Aidan and Claire have been selected to represent Greenville High School at this year’s annual Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference. Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY programs provide students, who are selected by their school, to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences. Aidan and Claire have been selected by our faculty because of the fantastic job they do in and out of the classroom, as both academically strong students and children who lead by example. Thursday's Award: Hannah Smith Hannah has been nominated for three awards including the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Science Award, the Bryn Mawr College President’s Book Award and the Gellert Cornell Admissions Invitation. Hannah has earned these honors because she is a phenomenal academic student as well as positive role model in our school and surrounding community. Hannah is currently a full International Baccalaureate Diploma student and maintaining the spot of Valedictorian for the Class of 2018 with close to a 101% weighted grade point average. Hannah’s abilities in and out of the classroom are inspiring and worthy of acknowledgements. She is involved in many activities including SADD, NHS and more. The University of Rochester Science Award acknowledges students who have a passion and excel in the area of science and have excelled on their PSAT. Hannah is currently in the running for National Merit Scholarship based on her high PSAT scores. The University of Rochester award is in the amount for $10,000 per year upon enrollment. The Bryn Mawr College President’s Book Award is Stength’s Finder 2.0 by Gallup as well as a $250 travel stipend to visit the school and the Gellert Cornell Admissions Invitation invites Hannah to apply to the prestigious college.
